AT THE COMMON PLACE CHURCH, OUR MISSION IS TO HELP OTHERS ALONG A SIMPLE PATH TO CONNECT WITH GOD AND OTHERS AROUND THEM, TO PARTNER TOGETHER IN GROWING IN RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, AND TO SERVE EACH OTHER AND THE WORLD FOR CHRIST. WHETHER YOU’RE THINKING OF VISITING, A REGULAR ATTENDER OR BEEN HERE A WHILE, THERE’S A SPOT FOR YOU AT THE COMMON PLACE.
In 2008 the vision of "church in a coffee shop" was birthed by a group of people who had seen the need to meet the community not only with the Gospel message of Jesus, but with a safe place, centrally located, where community could happen. In 2009 the Common Place Church was born and Avenue 209 Coffee House along with it, owned by the church and being a part of its mission.
The Common Place Church, although new in some ways, has a very rich history and connection with this community. The Lock Haven Alliance church has existed in this community for over 80 years, and The Common Place Church is a continuation of this rich heritage.
We belong to a large family of churches called The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) and help support the worldwide work of missions. Our own church was born out of the generosity of this denomination and we support church planting across Eastern PA.
