Updates from Common Place Church during this time

COVID-19 UDpates

Updated 3/17/20

Common Place,

Last night the ministry team and elders met to discuss our next steps as a church and coffee shop during the COVID-19 outbreak. We looked at our decisions through two lenses. What are prudent and thoughtful steps we should take as a church during this time to protect our church family and surrounding community? What are the unique opportunities for loving ministry that this time brings?

I was pleased with the heart and attitude of our leadership team as we discussed these things. Below are some action steps:

  • For the next two Sundays (March 22nd and 29th) we will not be gathering live at the coffee shop for church. We will transition to an online format (either live stream or pre-recorded). Stay tuned for more information on how to access that content this weekend. This may extend beyond two weeks, and we will provide timely updates keeping you informed.
  • All youth group activities are on hold for the next two weeks.
  • The coffee shop is remaining open for takeout only with limited hours of operation.

As always, please know that the elders and I are available to meet and pray with you. Take some time as a church family to call/text each other frequently. Pay attention to when a person comes to your mind unexpectedly. It might just be the Holy Spirit prompting you to reach out.

We are considering creative options for church should the outbreak continue beyond two weeks. We know that being in community with other people is important for our souls, and so we are beginning to discuss safe and alternative ways to be the church in this time.

Remember that there is no fear in the presence of Jesus, and he loves you very much.
